Is Brandon Webb the X-Factor?

The last time any of us saw Brandon Webb was with the Arizona Diamondbacks. If you have a bad memory, let me enligten you with his career stats during his nine year career with the Diamondbacks. He was 86-62 with a 3.42 ERA and gave up 92 HR, 435 walks, and clocked in 1,065 K’s. In his last full season with the Diamondbacks, which was 2008, he went 22-7 with a 3.30 ERA. He gave up 13 homers, 65 walks, and 183 K’s. He was dominent and very consistant throughtout his time with the Diamondbacks. He comes into a pitching staff that is led by C.J. Wilson and Colby Lewis. They both exceeded expectations last season and essentially, with the exception of Cliff Lee, gave this team an opportunity to win and led the Rangers to the Fall Classic. That’s besides the point, though. With a pitching staff as deep as this year and with spots in the rotation open, It is imperative for Webb to excel like he did in Arizona. If he’s anything like he was with them and if he stays healthy, then I think I can safely say that he will be the X-Factor and we can be talking about the Rangers being in the Fall Classic this year. If all goes well for the Rangers, maybe we might be saying World Champion Rangers 2012 come October. Only time will tell…
